About Audience Score
For many the plot of this movie feels formulaic and revisited. A somewhat spineless nice girl who can't say no to anyone, she has been a bridesmaid 27 times, often exceeding her duties in every wedding. For all her romantic yearnings, she can't seem to hook her boss, George whom she has been in love with for years. When her self-centered little sister Tess comes in and manages to snag George, Jane once again capitulates to everyone's needs but her own. In comes Kevin , a newspaper columnist stuck covering weddings who yearns to break out and write about more important things. Under the pretense of covering George and Tess's wedding, he really is writing about Jane and her perpetual bridesmaid stints.

Remembering that Kevin once said the same thing as a criticism, Jane quits and admits she only stayed at the job because she was in love with George. She discovers after an experimental kiss that she no longer loves him and goes to meet Kevin.

James Marsden is also pitch-perfect as the cynical reporter, a foil to Jane. It helps that they have good fight-and-kiss chemistry.
27 Dresses follows Jane, played by Heigl, a friend to many who puts the world first and herself last, evidenced by the fact that she is always a bridesmaid , but never the bride. Things take a turn for the wackier when Jane’s sister gets engaged to Jane’s crush at the same moment that a charming reporter, played by Marsden, walks into her life. The film was a hit, premiering at the second spot in the North American box office and easing its way into America’s pop culture lexicon with references in various other media. Star Katherine Heigl was in the hit comedy Knocked Up, so teens will likely be interested. Jane Nicholas has been a bridesmaid for 27 weddings. One night when she is attending two weddings almost simultaneously, she meets Kevin Doyle , who helps her get home but discusses with her his cynical views of marriage.

As Kevin says in the movie, the theme of this dress seems to be "humiliation." Fun for a costume party, maybe, but not much else. BuzzFeed As IsSomething for everyone interested in hair, makeup, style, and body positivity. Disappointing would-be romantic comedy with innuendo. How anyone could swap Jane for Tess is a serious mystery -- just one of a number of 27 DRESSES' irritating, albeit small, flaws. On the other hand, there are some rewards -- like Judy Greer, who plays Casey, Jane's saucy, witty best friend. The movie also benefits from director Anne Fletcher's light-and-easy style (thankfully, she doesn't take the subject matter seriously) and, more importantly, the Heigl's effervescence.
Kevin and Jane share a cab home, where she forgets her day planner. Kevin snoops through the planner and resolves to return it to Jane. Meanwhile, Jane's sister Tess returns from a trip to Europe and quickly falls in love with Jane's boss George, on whom Jane has an unrequited crush. Tess feigns interest in George's passion for the outdoors and animal rights, and their courtship progresses rapidly. Soon, they announce plans to marry in only three weeks.
The film features a score written by Randy Edelman along with numerous songs from other artists. These songs do not appear on the soundtrack CD, which includes only the Edelman score. Catherine Marie Thomas was in charge of Costume design.
