Once it gets past 2 days, the cabbage loses its appetizing crunch and the consistency of the mayonnaise might become slimy. Avoid old coleslaw by enjoying it within the first 2 days. Celery seeds – this is an optional ingredient but one that my mom always used so I do too. You don’t need a lot to add a nice pop of flavor.
Perhaps, thinking about it, this explains the rebranding exercise. But I'm determined to make coleslaw cool again. Of course the downside that this method is I'm left with an overly salty and sweet slaw mixture. So to fix that, I transfer the slaw to the bowl of my salad spinner, wash it throughly to remove the excess seasoning, then take the mixture for a spin to dry it out. Sometimes I repeat if the first go round didn't remove enough salt. The end result is a slaw mix that's incredibly well seasoned and tender, yet with a really nice crunch to it.

However, amazing and delish! I would never have thought those chili & dill would work. I now make coleslaw practically every week using your recipe. Whisk together all of the ingredients in a medium bowl.

In a smaller bowl, make dressing by combining mayonnaise, vinegar, celery seed, sugar, salt and pepper. Toss dressing into cabbage mixture and let chill. Serve in a family style bowl. Mayonnaise adds a creamy texture while the vinegar adds a slight tang.
